Installation / Maintenance
Composition cork can be applied directly to the wall.. The surface must be clean and free of dust. Painted walls must be sanded and existing wallpaper adhesive must be removed.
Acclimate the material in the area of installation for a minimum of 48 hours. Unroll the composition cork and cut with the length adding 2 – 3 inches of overlap. Lay sheets flat and allow the material to acclimate at a minimum temperature of 68 degrees F for at least 24 hours reverse sheet to release the natural “memory” of the roll.
Using a latex-based multi purpose adhesive such as linoleum paste and apply adhesive to the wall with a putty knife. Press the cut cork sheet into the fresh adhesive, starting with the top edge. Work from the top down-wards, rolling firmly through the width first and than the length to insure proper transfer of the adhesive. Remove excess adhesive immediately using a soft damp cloth
For entire wall application, it is recommended to fasten the strip of cork on the top edge of the wall using a narrow strip of wood and headless nails. This will prevent the material from sliding down the wall. After the adhesive has set up remove wood and nails.
